The Electronic Blue Book mirrors the printed version which has served the construction industry as the standard reference source and buying guide for the construction industry since 1913. Each regional edition of The Blue Book contains tens of thousands of names categorized by classification headings. Accessing information on The Electronic Blue Book is as easy as selecting a regional area, entering a Keyword or a Company Name, and clicking the appropriate search button.

Regional Areas: The regional areas selection box contains the names of each edition of The Electronic Blue Book. To select a regional area, highlight the name of the area you would like to search. Remember this is a "scrolling" window. By clicking the arrows on the right-hand side of the box you can scroll up or down the list of regional areas. For a list of counties covered in each of our regional editions, select one of the following:

Keyword Search: The Electronic Blue Book accepts any industry related term in the keyword search. For example if you are looking for a contractor that specializes in "built up" roofing, simply enter "built up" in the keyword entry box. The system will respond by displaying a list of classifications that would most likely contain contractors that do "built up" roofing. Remember that generic terms like "contractor" will return only the most relevant classifications within The Blue Book. Therefore being more specific can help narrow your selection process. For example, the keyword "pipe" might return as many as 40 classifications. If you are looking for a specific type of pipe, like clay pipe, first enter the keywords "clay pipe" and check your results. If you need to broaden your search, enter a more generic keyword like "pipe". The Electronic Blue Book also allows searching by CSI heading description. To search by a CSI heading, enter a keyword(s) from the CSI division into the keyword entry box. The system will respond with a list of related classifications.

Not Found: If the keyword that you enter is not found, the system will return an index of classifications within the regional edition selected, where you can search alphabetically for a relevant classification.

Name Search: If you know the name (or some part of the last name) of the company you are looking for you can use the Company Name Search. Enter the portion of the name that you know into the name entry box and click on 'Search for Name' button. The system will respond with a list of names that contain the name that you entered. For example if the name you entered is "Kiernan" (because your not sure if it is Ed Kiernan or Edward Kiernan Inc.), the system might return the following:

Ed Kiernan Incorporated

Kiernan Roofing Specialists

Robert Kiernan

When entering a name, it is usually best to enter just the last name or the most unique portion of the name. In our example above we entered Kiernan when in fact we were looking for Ed Kiernan. Sometimes the name will be entered as Kiernan, Ed and if we had entered "Ed Kiernan" we would not have found the information we were looking for.
