Scope Of Work
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s (UTRGV) medical school program provides a forward-thinking medical education experience and serves as a collaborative incubator to train future neurologists, psychiatrists, neuroscientists, and other medical professionals.
The 35,000 SF, two-story building will house dry research labs, clinical space, clinical research space, core imaging, a therapy center, administrative support, collaborative areas, and community-focused spaces. It will also include a diagnostic center with state-of-the art medical imaging equipment for the treatment of numerous neuropsychiatric and aging disorders in the historically underserved Rio Grande Valley population. The building will be composed of a mix of metal panels, bricks, and cast stone. The exterior skin will be predominantly curtainwall and punch window glazing, to allow more natural light in the building. As the main architectural focal point, the entrance lobby will feature multi-colored terrazzo, two-story curtainwall, acoustical wood panels, and a bridge leading to the office spaces above the imaging suite. The project will be completed in the fall of 2021.
