The history of RAFU Construction began in Los Angeles, California in 1906 with the dream of two Japanese Americans from Boyle Heights- Miwa Imoto and his nephew (my grandfather Yoshio Imoto). In a quiet corner of Little Tokyo they established Miwa Construction where their business thrived on the corner of First and San Pedro until their dream was brought to a halt with the Second World War. Leaving the unjustness and tragedy of the internment camps behind, my grandfather was determined to reestablish his family in the community and achieve the American dream. From these goals, RAFU Construction was born. Now entering its fourth generation of family run ownership, I endeavor to carry on his ideals of professionalism, craftsmanship, and pride in our work.
