Donovan Everett's Bio
Donovan has over 15 years of experience successfully leading and delivering commercial construction projects totaling over $350 Million Dollars. From an early age, he learned that hard work pays off with positive results. Thanks to his father, the owner of a Beaufort, North Carolina – based general contracting firm, Donovan began working with his father, thereby learning knowledge about the construction business at an early age. Observing his father throughout the years gave Donovan the inspiration to pursue his own goals, including owning his own construction company.
While attending NC State University, Donovan successfully built on his resume by working with a Raleigh – based commercial real estate developer in the construction division gaining firsthand knowledge of developing and constructing commercial construction projects. Donovan rapidly progressed through the ranks and became a Commercial Real Estate Project Manager before graduating from college. He achieved another goal and milestone at the age of 21 when he obtained his general contractor’s license. When Donovan graduated from NC State, he had worked on the construction of 1.5 million square feet of commercial construction projects.
After graduating from NC State University, Donovan went on to work for over 9 years for one of the largest commercial construction firms in the world, Balfour Beatty Construction. Donovan quickly progressed through the ranks with multiple promotions including: Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Pre-Construction Manager/Estimator and Project Manager. While at Balfour Beatty, Donovan was responsible for leading, managing and collaborating on signature commercial construction projects totaling over $250 million dollars and managed single projects up to $115 million dollars. Donovan has a great amount of experience successfully leading and delivering many signature projects, including but not limited to projects in healthcare, higher education, public assembly, retail, office interiors and hospitality.
In the role of President and Chief Executive Officer, Donovan Everett is responsible for carrying out his passion and the vision of D.A. Everett Construction Group. His focus is on leading the direction of the company by developing and implementing the company’s strategic framework, company growth strategy, developing and maintaining key relationships, developing strategic partnerships, operations and project management.
In March 2013, at the 32nd annual State Construction Conference in Raleigh, the North Carolina State Office of Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB), presented Donovan with the prestigious Individual award for HUB Good Faith Efforts for Industry/Agency. Donovan was recognized for his leadership and commitment for utilization and mentoring HUB firms.
Donovan holds a B.S. in Business from North Carolina State University, is a LEED Accredited Professional, holds unlimited General Contractors licenses in North Carolina and South Carolina and also holds a healthcare construction certificate. Donovan is a recognized community and industry leader. Donovan serves on the Board of Directors for the Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities and is an avid supporter of the organization. Donovan has been a guest panelist for several industry organizations. He is a member of the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce – Young Professional Network, US Green Building Council, North Carolina Health Engineers Association, American Society for Healthcare Engineers, NAIOP and Associated Builders and Contractors.
Henry T. Everett's Bio
Henry is a true builder at heart. He has over 30 years of hands-on construction experience specializing in single family, multi-family and general commercial construction. Henry was the founder and president of HEC Construction, a successful full service general contracting firm, building many landmark projects along the coastal North Carolina and South Carolina regions. Henry has built a reputation on integrity, outstanding customer service, and hard work. He brings over three decades of solid construction experience and client relationships to support and grow the D.A. Everett Construction Group brand.
Henry holds a degree in Business and Construction Trades. He is a licensed general contractor in North Carolina and South Carolina. Henry is a recognized industry and community leader and has been a guest panelist for several local community economic development forums and trade organizations.
Toya D. Everett's Bio
Toya has over 20 years of risk management experience. Her areas of expertise include contractual risk management; vendor risk management; operational risk; developing and implementing business, risk and safety strategies; and, relationship management.
Toya is heavily involved in the Charlotte Community where she is engaged in and supports economic and workforce development initiatives. Toya currently serves on a host of boards and steering committees: President of the Charlotte Chapter of the National Black MBA Association, Charlotte Post Foundation Board, Johnson C. Smith University School of Business Advisory Board, City of Charlotte – Office of Economic Development Capacity Building Partner Committee, CIAA Business & Leadership Symposium Steering Committee, Women’s Business Center of Charlotte Annual Conference Steering Committee, Career Mastered Executive Advisory Council – Charlotte, Black Enterprise Magazine Entrepreneurs Summit Steering Committee. Toya has previously served on the KIPP Charlotte College Send-Off Host Committee and Jazzy Holiday Gala Fundraiser Host Committee – Harvey B. Gantt Center.
Toya earned her B.A. in Communication from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC, and Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Queens University – McColl School of Business, Charlotte, NC. Toya currently resides in Charlotte, NC.
Wendy G. Nixon's Bio
Wendy brings over 20 years of commercial construction experience to D.A. Everett on projects totaling over $1 billion dollars in the Southeast.
As Vice President, Wendy is responsible for implementing business strategy and making sure the systems are in place to streamline the business processes. Wendy focuses on client engagement and maintaining relationships and advancing the company brand and philosophy.
Wendy is a member of the Construction Financial Managers Association. When Wendy is not working, she enjoys traveling, being on the water and enjoying new life experiences.
