Scope Of Work

Located in the heart of the Wasatch Mountain Range and dubbed one of the most anticipated resort openings in 2019, The Lodge at Blue Sky is a complex 386,000 square-foot hospitality project. This project is unlike any resort project ever constructed by Big-D’s Signature Group. The resort sits on a mountainside and features a lodge, “Earth Houses” and “Creek Houses.”

The lodge itself features guest rooms and luxury suites (a night will set you back about $1,000 for a basic room), a conference center, a restaurant, 70-foot-long infinity pool, and a spa. The “Earth Houses” are small condominiums that feature outdoor showers and a patio fireplace. An underground parking structure was constructed to accommodate guests and staff.

Constructing this project equated to constructing an oasis as there was limited staging and parking. The remote location of the project required Big-D to “tie” into an electrical and sewer system that could sustain an entire city! In fact, the scope of work included more than 260,000 square-feet of site work. Big-D constructed an underground tunnel for the resort’s mechanical systems, as well as easy access by the facilities staff. An estimated 6,600 cubic yards of concrete was poured between all the buildings.
