Scope Of Work
Day & Zimmermann provided construction services, safety services, procurement, instrumentation, document control, quality control, supervision, and labor to support construction completion, commissioning, and start-up of a 440 MW combined-cycle power plant in the Northwest. The plant is responsible for approximately 10 percent of the utility’s generation capacity.
The facility uses a highly efficient combined cycle system, with one turbine running off the combustion of natural-gas and the other running off of steam. D&Z supported work on several systems and plant equipment, including the combustion turbine generator, reheat steam turbine generator, auxiliary boiler, selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and CO2 control systems, and various electrical and I&C systems.
D&Z took over the project when it was more than 50 percent complete and helped the utility meet its federally mandated first-fire date.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
Mobilized supervision over the winter holidays within days of the request.
Worked nearly 600,000 hours without any lost-time injuries.
Completed on time, meeting customer’s federally mandated first-fire date.
Installed more than 68 miles of cable and performed more than 25,000 hours of cable pulling.
Performed more than 3,000 welds with an average 0.54 percent reject rate.
