Schmidt Custom Floors, Inc.

In 1968, Bob Schmidt started Schmidt Custom Floors, working from his home and garage and installing, sanding, and finishing wood floors in the Greater Milwaukee, Wisconsin area by hand. In the beginning, Bob worked with his wife, Ruth, and the two managed the business together successfully as their son, Tim, began to pick up the family trade and started working side by side with his dad in 1979. In 1987, Tina, their daughter, and Jeff Satterfield, their son in law, began working in the business. Daughter in law Andrea started working with the company in 2000. After Bob’s retirement in 2004, management of the business was turned over to Tim Schmidt and Jeff Satterfield. Tim and Andrea’s children, Austin, Taylor, Logan, and Estee, the third generation of Schmidt family members, are working in the business as well.

Today, Schmidt Custom Floors remains family-owned and operated, having grown to include a team of about 80 installers and 25 sales and office staff. We are proud to be an award-winning, full-service flooring company with a spacious flooring showroom in Waukesha and Madison, Wisconsin, and an expert staff of flooring designers. Our Hand-Crafted division, established by our founder’s grandsons, employs old-world techniques for the highest quality craftsmanship available in wood floors.
