Scope Of Work

July 29, 2005 was a special day in the life of Cooperstown, NY. It was a Friday, and the Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Weekend was set to begin. The complex was prepared, cleaned, and ready for the onslaught of baseball fans. The fans would enjoy the pristine surroundings and the like-new walkways and stands, but what they would not know is that the sparkling clean environment was provided free of charge by a handful of committed PWNA professionals and “Clean Across America.”

In a joint venture with Henry Bockman of Commercial Restorations, and Matthew Johnson of Pressure Washing Services, Inc. in Milford, NY.

This all started when Matthew Johnson called the editor of a local paper in late spring to discuss the ‘Clean Across America’ project and asked if his paper could run an ad to help me find a few properties to clean as part of the project. He decided instead to run a small article about my company. Karen Katz interviewed me and subsequently placed the article on the front page of the paper. The article came out in a Friday edition.

The same night the article was published, Matthew Johnson received a phone call from Stuart Taugher, chairman of the Doubleday Field Committee, asking if I would consider cleaning the stadium at the Doubleday Field complex as a project. I told him I would have to think about it. That was a pretty big undertaking. After considering it awhile, I called Henry Bockman, the person that created the Clean Across America Program, and the Project Chairman and joked with him about the phone call and request to clean the stadium. He simply said, “Let’s do it!” I asked if he was nuts and he repeated “let’s do it.” He volunteered on the spot to help me with the project and also to help recruit others.

Some of the obstacles that we had to overcome to perform the job were streams that ran under the stadium bleachers, being able to supply enough water volume to run all of the equipment, and being able to complete the job before the Baseball Hall of Fame Induction, just two days after the project started.
