Strategic Construction

David handles all aspects of the preconstruction process for the Houston office and all multi-family operations. This includes estimating, scheduling, value engineering and constructability review. He works closely with the client and design team to develop project goals within target budgets and schedules. He also coordinates with Strategic’s project team during construction on subcontractor buyout, budgets and change management.

David graduated from the University of Texas with a B.A. in Economics in 1986. His construction career began in purchasing and management positions for a national single-family production homebuilder. He has been with Strategic since its inception, and is instrumental in retaining clients, managing Strategic’s trade base and leading the company through his experience and mentoring. 

Matt provides the day-to-day leadership and business planning for Strategic. He is responsible for developing and implementing the overall strategy and vision for the company, including market and client pursuits, management processes and controls for corporate and field operations, and making sure that projects are delivered to client expectations. He also maintains leadership consistency between Strategic’s Houston and DFW offices and multi-family and commercial market sectors. 

Matt earned his B.S. in Construction Science from Texas A&M University in 1999 and his law degree from Southern Methodist University in 2003. His construction career began in project management. His prior roles also include senior executive positions in the construction sector focusing on corporate services, financial and risk management, and construction law. 

Mike leads all Strategic operations at an executive level. He is responsible for the oversight of Strategic’s project teams, processes and all phases of construction from preconstruction through warranty. He works closely with project teams to analyze, plan and manage each project to meet company and client expectations. He also is actively involved early in project development with clients to maintain consistency between preconstruction services and project delivery. 

Mike earned a B.S. in Construction Science from Northeast Louisiana University in 1995. Prior to joining Strategic, he co-managed a DFW regional office of a national general contractor and was in charge of the retail division for an ENR 200 general contractor. Mike’s greatest strength is multi-tasking including his ability to motivate and lead multiple project teams in all operating regions.

Robert is the founder of Strategic and ultimately responsible for its operation and success. His knowledge, reputation and long-standing relationships drive the company. He is actively involved in the oversight of all company pursuits and ongoing projects, and provides valuable mentorship and insight to Strategic’s executive team.

Robert graduated from the University of Houston in 1972, earning a BBA with a concentration in Accounting. He started in construction as a laborer during college. Since 1970, he has worked in virtually every position including field superintendent, accounting, estimating and management. He has successfully managed and completed over 50,000 multi-family units in 14 states. As the founder of Strategic, Robert built the company from the ground up, to its current position as a regional leader in multi-family and commercial construction.

Mike oversees all field operations for Strategic and serves as an intermediary between field supervision, project management and executive leadership to ensure support and accountability. He identifies project challenges and collaborates with clients and design and construction teams to achieve resolution for the benefit of the project. As part of his leadership role, Mike also manages all quality control and safety related functions of the company to promote compliance and consistent best practices. 

Mike graduated from Northeast Louisiana University with a B.S. in Construction Management in 1986. He has several decades of construction experience in a diverse array of markets, including multi-family, industrial, commercial and petrochemical. He has focused exclusively on multi-family construction since 2004, including garden style and high density wrap and podium projects. His diversity and leadership are a great asset to the team. 

Phillip is responsible for the daily management of Strategic’s estimating department for DFW-based projects. He handles project intake, pre-construction review, and bid distribution and coordination with qualified subcontractors. Phillip also completes all itemized takeoffs of trade quantities and associated unit pricing, to ensure that each estimate is accurate per plans and specifications. Once a project is awarded, he coordinates with the project management team to “hand off” the project and review and coordinate scopes of work and costs for each subcontractor.

Phillip graduated from Angelo State University with a B.B.A. in Marketing in 2011. He has been involved in estimating and sales since graduation, and has estimated a large variety of commercial projects in all major market sectors. His strengths lie in proper up-front planning and scope definition to ensure a complete and competitive bid, within budget, and with the expected level of quality.

Jason manages commercial projects in all market sectors. He works closely with the executive team to staff, manage and deliver multiple project types at the same time. He has managed projects in all major commercial sectors including retail, financial, religious, distribution, education and medical. 

Jason earned a B.S. in Construction Management from Northeast Louisiana University in 2002. His construction career began well before then, as a teenager in the role of carpenter’s helper with his family’s restoration company, and later as an estimator and project manager. He has also managed projects for a national general contractor in the DFW market. His broad experience makes him an asset to our clients.

Jeff manages projects out of Strategic’s DFW office. He works closely with the client and project team to make sure projects are completed per client expectations. He splits his time between the office and project locations to coordinate between executive management and field leadership and ensure successful project delivery.

Jeff served in the United States Marine Corps from 2004 – 2010 and came to Strategic from a construction company he founded in 2011. He has managed projects in the multi-family, retail, education, medical, laboratory, and technical facilities sectors.

Jeremy supports commercial and multi-family projects and teams out of the Houston office. He handles submittals, RFIs, budgeting, scheduling, client reporting and oversight of field operations. He also strengthens client relationships with his proactive approach to project issues and client concerns.  

Jeremy graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in Business Management in 2008. Prior to joining Strategic, he worked in a similar role for a national general contractor as a project engineer on large commercial and governmental projects.

Quysi coordinates office and project management functions with field operations for a smooth project delivery. He is also particularly skilled at identifying and resolving design discrepancy and constructability issues through the RFI and submittal process, with his prior experience in architecture and engineering.  In addition, Quysi provides scheduling and procurement support to maintain production and quality control on multiple projects.

Quysi graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of  Architecture in 2012. He has unique prior experience working as a designer and construction administrator with both architectural and structural engineering firms, prior to entering the construction field.

Shawn assists the Strategic project management team in all critical functions including drawing management and clarification, submittals, scheduling, and client reporting. He also spends significant time on project sites making sure that field operations are coordinated and supported to maintain safety, quality and production. His prior experience in the field makes him an invaluable resource in that capacity.

Shawn graduated from Sam Houston State University with a B.B.A. in Management in 2011. Shawn has been involved in the construction industry since 2012, with prior roles in material and equipment distribution, labor management and staffing, and as on onsite field supervisor. 

Victor supports project managers with coordinating subcontractor scopes, developing and implementing project schedules and budgets, and project reporting. He coordinates the daily operations of project field teams to support active construction projects. He also interacts with subcontractors and clients on a regular basis for quality assurance, relationship management and successful project delivery.

Victor graduated from Sam Houston State University with a B.S. in Construction Management in 2015. He has prior construction experience in multi-family urban infill and mixed use and complex commercial construction projects.

Chris started his construction career as a carpenter 1985. He moved into a leadership role as a superintendent in 1993. Chris has college and AGC level training in both business and construction. He has been in a lead role for virtually every commercial construction project type including retail, office, automotive, medical, warehouse / industrial, religious and multi-family / mixed use.

In addition to his project related duties, as General Superintendent, Chris is involved in overall company leadership initiatives related to the field including maintaining operational consistency among projects, quality control, safety, issue resolution, and mentorship of our field teams company-wide. His diversity of experience, leadership and mentorship skills add value to Strategic and its clients.

Scott provides senior leadership to Strategic’s multi-family project management team and is directly responsible for multiple projects and clients. He oversees all buyout, scheduling, budgets, quality control, and makes sure that all projects exceed client expectations. He also implements company and project controls, while managing and mentoring project managers and field staff.

Scott graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Construction Science in 1999. He has project management experience in multi-family and commercial markets and has been with Strategic since 2004. His team-oriented approach and communication skills make him an asset to every project.

Tim has spent his entire career in multi-family construction and has experience in all product types including apartment, student housing, senior living and high density wrap / podium projects. He was promoted to lead project superintendent at age 27, and has been successfully managing projects ever since.

In addition to his project related duties, as General Superintendent, Tim is involved in overall company leadership initiatives related to the field including maintaining operational consistency among projects, quality control, safety, issue resolution, and mentorship of our field teams company-wide. His highly motivated and goal oriented approach make Strategic a better builder.
