Scope Of Work

Construction commenced in June of 2015 and an A330 aircraft was placed in the hanger in October of 2015 for retrofitting. The addition was developed as a pre-engineered metal building with attachments to the existing conventional steel hangar and office spaces. The expansion included the addition of 60 additional feet of depth to the hangar, 255’ wide door opening 48’ tall, and a new 25’ high tail door.
 

Comlux America previously had a custom built 4 bay BBJ (737 class aircraft) hangar constructed in 2012. At that time, Strongbox Commercial provided fit out of the new hangar for aircraft power and cooling systems, paint booth, cabinet shop dust control and glue booth ventilation and installation of the booths. In 2015 Comlux America approached Strongbox Commercial to design and build an expansion of the hangar facility to house all wide body aircraft up to, and including a Boeing 747-8 series aircraft. The design build contract started in January of 2015 and was completed in December 2015. The addition was developed as a pre-engineered metal building with attachments to the existing conventional steel hangar and office spaces.

The expansion included the addition of 60 additional feet of depth to the hangar, 255’ wide door opening 48’ tall, and a new 25’ high tail door. The existing hangar doors were removed, retrofitted, and relocated to a new door location. Floors included poured in place concrete of 14,000 sf of heavy-duty aircraft ramp and 15,600 sf of hangar flooring. The foam deluge fire protection system was expanded and tested as part of the upgrades. The project also included 17,500 sf of new office space in two stories. All of this work was done with three active BBJ class aircraft restorations continuously underway.
