Scope Of Work

This Warrior in Transition (WT) Barracks at Fort Sam Houston can accommodate 360 soldiers as they prepare for reassignment or a return to civilian life. The 216,000-square-foot barracks building is composed of two-bedroom, two-bathroom and two-bedroom, one-bathroom modules. Sundt also performed site design and infrastructure work on the project to support one battalion headquarters, two mid-sized company operations in one facility, barracks and other supporting facilities including utilities, paving, landscaping and all other site amenities.

Sundt has completed five WT projects at Army posts around the country, which provide specialized services to meet the unique medical, psychological and social needs of soldiers returning home wounded from combat overseas. The Fort Sam Houston WT Barracks provides service members a sense of normalcy, as well as the chance to adapt back to a civilian environment. This is facilitated through the use of subdued lighting, residential-style furnishings and household common areas.
