EARLY INFRASTRUCTURE WORK POWERS THE ‘ROCKSINO’
Gilbane managed construction for the first ever Hard Rock Rocksino. The concept merges gaming, restaurants and live entertainment adjacent to a live harness horse racing track. Long before a shovel hit the ground, the Gilbane team collaborated with all team members and the local community during the design phase to ensure a seamless, fast track construction schedule would be met for a record-breaking opening. In order to provide adequate power for the facility substantial site improvements included:
All new underground utilities
High voltage substation
Emergency generators
Relocation of existing power supply
Four megawatts of generator power
The new single-story Hard Rock Rocksino features 2,200 video lottery terminals and 64,000 square feet of gaming area on an 8-inch raised floor, a high limit area, 2,600-seat hard Rock Live venue, comedy club, and Rock Shop retail area. Dining options include local favorite, Bernie Kosar’s Steakhouse, a full-service hard Rock Café, and a buffet. Read more about this amplified entertainment venue. Architects on the project included: SOSH Architects / Richard L. Bowen + Associates.
FAST TRACK CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE KEEPS HORSES RACING TO THE FINISH
On a fast-track construction schedule of 11-months, the Gilbane team used efficient pull-planning with multiple shifts to ensure on-time completion. The plan allowed the race track to remain operational during all phases of construction with no disruption to normal racetrack schedules and horse stable routines.
