Alan J. Armstrong's Bio
Alan Armstrong founded A. J. Armstrong, Inc. in 1997 after over
twenty-five years experience working in the commercial real estate industry.
First as Chief Deputy Controller for the City of Indianapolis
where he coordinated eight bond issues within a one year period. He
also represented the City's financial interests in several building
projects and was a prime participant in the preparation of the City's
$200,000,000 annual budget.
Next, Alan became Deputy Director of the Department
of Public Works where he represented the Department in regards to
Market Square Arena and The Sports Center. His responsibilities also
included direction of Legal, Finance, Engineering, AWT Project
Director, City Market, Property Management, Air Pollution, Drainage,
Weed Control, and Public Information Division.
In 1981, Alan became the Project Director for the construction
of the RCA (then Hoosier) Dome. He represented the City of
Indianapolis and the Capital Improvement Board. He was responsible for
all facets of the project including short and long term financing,
budgeting, design, construction, legal, public relations, land
acquisition, and marketing. The project was completed at budget and
three months ahead of schedule. Additionally, he was responsible for
the design and construction of temporary and permanent office and
practice facilities for the Indianapolis Colts.
With the Hoosier Dome completed and filled with screaming Colts
fans, it was time to move on to a new challenge. He joined Bank One
Corporation in 1985 as Senior Vice President and Regional Manager
(Property Division). He was Bank One's lead contact for design and
construction of the 48-story downtown office tower and the 1700 space
downtown parking facility. He was also responsible for all real estate
issues for Bank One including up to 800 locations and more than five
million square feet in a three-state region and
the nationwide facilities of two Bank One affiliates.
Then came 1997 when Alan decided to strike out on his own and
start A. J. Armstrong, Inc., the company that now provides owner's
representation services for all types of real estate projects. From
small retail outlets to full-size sports stadiums and everything in
between, A. J. Armstrong, Inc. is ready to service its client's needs.
Alan Armstrong is a graduate of Ball State University and proud
father of two children, and grandfather of three. He is a CPA with
current inactive status. He is a Past President of BOMA Indianapolis.
He is a former President of The Indianapolis Athletic Club. He is an
active member of The Columbia Club. He is also a Past President of the
Marion County Convention & Recreational Facilities Authority.
Among his extensive community, charitable, and political involvement
is his current post as vice-chairman of The Indiana Horse Racing
Commission.
Scott Armstrong's Bio
Scott joined A. J. Armstrong, Inc. in 2002 as a project manager. His
responsibilities include new business attainment, working with client
companies on new construction projects, and facilities assessment.
Prior to joining A. J. Armstrong, Inc., Scott was involved in
the commercial construction market for ten years selling construction products.
Scott spent five years as a regional sales manager for
Strongwell, overseeing the sales efforts in fifteen states. He
located, hired, and managed a network of representatives and
distributors. He was also responsible for daily dealings with
contractors, architects, engineers, and
commercial/industrial/municipal end-users.
Prior to Strongwell, Scott spent five years as a manufacturer's
representative servicing the Indiana market for more than twenty
commercial building product lines. Most of his time was spent with
contractors, architects, and engineers.
Scott attended Indiana University and is a proud father of two
young sons. He is a member of the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership
Series Class XXXIII. He is a recipient of the Mayor's
Community Service Award for 2008 He is President of the Community
Heights Neighborhood Organization. He is Past President of IPS School
#2 PTA. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Indianapolis
Rotary Club. A member of the IPS #2 and IPS #88 INSAI school
improvement steering teams. He is also a volunteer Soccer and
Basketball coach at the Ransburg YMCA on the eastside of Indianapolis,
and has started a free Eastside youth soccer group.
