Scope Of Work

Regency Construction Services, Inc. served as Construction Manager at Risk for the new “Eagle Zip Adventure” at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, a zipline attraction within the zoo that carries guests on a thrill-seeking ride across Waterfowl Lake.

Regency Construction Services, Inc. provided Construction Management at Risk services to construct the all-new “Eagle Zip Adventure” zipline attraction at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. This project's scope also included miscellaneous repairs and refreshed paint for the nearby Wade Hall Building, as well as site improvements behind the Cleveland Metroparks' administration building.

The 700-foot zipline cable is suspended 150 feet above Waterfowl Lake, anchored into the hillside nearby the administration building with two cemented towers in the lake standing 70 feet from the Wade Hall deck. This effort required temporarily lowering the lake about two feet. Regency enlisted a design-assist partner to support the specialized excavation and foundation work. Regency’s team installed the electrical, mechanical, and technological systems required to support the ride, in addition to the installation of ride operations under the guidance of the ride manufacturer.

Regency carpenters self-performed the construction of two wooden landing areas for guests as well as a covered wooden queue and cupola. Our team also cleared out brush and trees on the hillside to make a safe pathway for the suspended riders and cable system. The cupola design mirrors nearby Wade Hall, with rocks placed around the structure to create an “eagle’s nest” experience.

Having worked in an active zoo on multiple occasions, great care was taken to follow proper procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of animals in nearby exhibits as well as any native animals living in Waterfowl Lake. Among other things, these protocols dictated construction delivery logistics, noise control, and flow of pedestrian traffic.
