Scope Of Work
LaGuardia Gateway Partners began construction on the new 1.3 million square foot Terminal B in June 2016 and completed the project on time in 2022. Valued at $5.1B the project included Arrivals and Departure Halls, connected by 2 skybridges and 2 island concourses a parking garage and related roadway and infrastructure. Siemens Industry, Inc. Smart Infrastructure was awarded the contract to provide building automation and automatic fire protective devices. As a Siemens preferred vendor with a track record of success in safety including activities that led to sharing in the Siemens "Safety is Our Culture" award in 2013, we were contracted to provide a safety manager to ensure the site-specific health and safety plan was fully implemented and followed. Challenges included ensuring all tradesmen attended daily 'stretch and flex' with the GC Skanska/Walsh JV, and that due to potential for exposure to COVID-19 personal protective equipment including face masks/face shields, cut-level 5 gloves and hard hats were worn at all times.
