Scope Of Work
The Avery Alexander Elementary School project, built for the Louisiana Department of Education Recovery System, included the new construction of a three-story, 104,479 square foot elementary school in New Orleans, LA. The facility, now known as Pierre A. Capdau Charter School at Avery Alexander Elementary, houses 405 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grades. The elementary school was constructed on an auger cast pile and concrete slab-on-grade with a non-post tension foundation, a steel structural frame, an exterior of brick and metal panel façade, and a modified bitumen roof with a stud and sheathing membrane. The project also features classrooms, laboratories, a gymnasium, industrial kitchen, and library. The elementary school achieved Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for building design and construction. The Avery Alexander Elementary School project now provides a fully modernized school in place of a facility previously destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
