This project consisted of expanding sections of the sprawling pipe plant, while keeping the plant and overhead crane system in operation throughout the construction process.
The construction included the exterior load-bearing concrete tilt panels and steel frame structure being removed. Temporary protection and shoring systems supported the building while exterior wall systems were removed. The new support system was then installed and consisted of a 100-foot-long pre-engineered steel jack beam more than 12 feet tall weighing approximately 52,000 lbs. Baldwin & Shell self-performed the conventional steel erection, pre-engineered metal building erection, and building concrete applications for this project.
