Our Story
Rabbit Hole Woodworking's main line of expertise is in Architectural & Cabinet Woodwork, Solid Surfaces, Countertops & Laminates.
We are located in the Monticello, Georgia area.
Both sides of Alex Flores' family have been part of construction in some way or another. A great uncle was a trim carpenter where he inherited his first set of tools. His paternal grandfather was an architect in Cuba until they left the island to flee the Castro regime. Once in the country, he learned English and earned his architecture license and started his own architecture firm.
Alex started in construction in high school as a way to make money during the summer on top of life guarding at the local pools. His first job was working for the husband of one of his mother’s coworkers. They did small remodels and handyman work. He learned the basics of carpentry and the how building were constructed.
In college Alex worked for a kitchen and bath company where he learned the operation of residential cabinet fabrication and installation. After about 5 or 6 years he was hired on at a commercial cabinet company. They built casework predominantly for hospitals and doctors offices. There he learned how to run a CNC machine as well as larger cabinet jobs like installing cabinets at places like ESPN and large schools. After a while working for the commercial cabinet company he became a subcontractor for them as an installer.
After a few years of working for himself, he moved to Colorado. Once he arrived in Colorado Alex was hired by a framing company that built large homes. After a few months he struck out on his own again and took on kitchen remodels and additions in Boulder, Co. After a few years of working for himself, he was offered an opportunity to work for a large commercial general contractor, Catamount Constructors.
At Catamount, Ihe was hired as a superintendent in their healthcare division. There he supervised the construction of very sensitive areas of Presbyterian St. Luke’s hospital. During his time at PSL he remodeled surgery suites, MRIs and the central sterilization area. These projects taught him how to keep a clean job site and making sure to deliver projects on time.
He transferred to Catamount’s Atlanta office where they brought him into the office as a project manager. There he was responsible for larger ground up and tilt up projects. Alex learned how to navigate the contracts and manage project finances.
Once again, he became restless and wanted to work for himself. After 4 years of working at Catamount he decided that he wanted to start a commercial cabinet company. Thus Rabbit Hole Woodworking was started. They currently have 4 employees and have completed over $300k in projects in 9 short months.
Rabbit Hole Woodworking is looking to double their shop size in the next 6 months and bring in a new CNC machine as well as hire 4 more cabinet builders.
