Sherwin Electrical

Sherwin Electrical is a Powell-powered local business founded and operated by Master Electrician John “Dan” Sherwin. Born and raised in Lima, Ohio, Dan earned his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering at the Ohio State University while completing its Air Force ROTC program.

He began his career as an Air Force Technology Engineer before spending ten years managing federal projects as a Quality Construction Professional — an experience that would serve him well as the head of his company. 

Yearning to get back to his small-town roots, Dan moved to Powell fifteen years ago and began to do small electrical jobs for family and friends. As he explains, “Sherwin Electrical began with just me and my truck.”

As his client base grew through word-of-mouth, Dan discovered his passion for working directly with his community and serving their electrical needs. By 2020, he had earned enough loyal customers to formally launch the business. He is honored by the trust and support Powell has given him and hopes, through the quality and integrity of his service, to honor them in return.

Dan lives with his wife, Gaudy, and their three children and hopes to grow Sherwin Electrical into a family business — his son, Brayden, a student at Olentangy, can be found helping the company during his summer and winter breaks from school. When Dan isn’t working, he most enjoys browsing Powell’s antique shops and going boating on Alum Creek with his family.
