I was at the Lenox Building today and the new rear doors look great, hopefully they will move forward with the fronts doors soon. I wanted to ask a favor, one of our clients The Ukrainian Museum located at 222 E 6th Street (East Village New York) is having some problems with an existing store that was installed when the building was built about 12 years ago and if you would be able to stop by and help them out. The following is what I noticed since working at the building:
The center front doors do not appear to be closing properly with tighter gap at the top and a much greater gap towards the bottom allowing massive cold air into the entry lobby. The gasket is a felt on one side of the double doors and the other door is a smooth flat finish.
There are two single doors on to the left and right of the main entry that appear to need new air seals on sides and bottoms as well. These doors appear to be single pane glass that get very cold and if humidity levels are slightly high they condensate a lot. Is it possible to replace this glass with a more energy efficient pane or can something be installed over the existing panes to improve the current conditions?
These are great clients and a pleasure to work with. You can speak to Daria Bajko the building manager to arrange a site visit if you are interested. If you do not work in the city or not interested, can you recommend a trusted vendor to help them out? Either way, let me if this is something you would like to do.
