Our Story

Marine Contracting Corporation was established in 1979 by Earl Haden and Bob Thompson. After working with B.F. Diamond and Rose Marine for many years decided to establish their own company in the marine construction industry in Hampton Roads. With extensive knowledge of pile driving and bridge building in projects such as the :Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel Return Bridge Spans, The High Rise Bridge on I64, The Midtown Tunnel from Norfolk to Portsmouth, Marine Contracting developed rapidly into an extremely competitive General Contractor specializing in heavy marine and civil construction.

After being in business for over 30 years Marine Contracting is proud to have completed hundreds of projects on the East Coast from Georgia to Delaware. A relationship has been forged in each state with the Army Corps of Engineers, Department of Navy, Department of Transportation, US Coast Guard, State Ports Authorities, Various Private Shipyards, and Local Utility Companies.

Marine Contracting prides itself on the ability to provide on time, on budget, quality projects and directly attributes it to their experienced and professional employees. Along with the specialized marine equipment Marine Contracting, offers extensive knowledge in the maritime arena with its outstanding employees. At least 80% of all current employees have been with this organization for over of 20 years and in some cases employment has been passed between generations.

With the specialized equipment and extensive knowledge of the industry, Marine Contracting Corporation is able to undertake many types of Marine and Civil Projects. Our specialties include but are not limited to: Pile Driving, Bridge and Pier Construction, Cofferdam Installation & Maintenance, Demolition, and Dredging.

Marine Contracting Corporation corporate office is located in the Airport Industrial park in Virginia Beach. Our mooring and storage yard is located at the foot of the Campostella Bridge in Port Norfolk.
