Michaels Stores, Inc. (NYSE: MIK) became a publicly held company in 1984 with only 16 retail stores. that time, the company has grown to become the nation’s largest specialty retailer of home décor, art and craft project materials. More than 920 Michaels stores can be found in 48 U.S. states and in Canada; company sales have topped $3.6 billion in FY 2005, and FY2006 is on track to be the tenth consecutive year of growth for the company. Each store carries an average of 40,000 items and offers in-store events, classrooms, and instructional displays, inspiring their customers to pursue their creative goals.
Bob Moore Construction was the general contractor for the newest Michaels retail store in Mansfield, Texas. This construction project was built on behalf of Kossman Development Company.
The new store was constructed in 12″ CMU blocks to match the style of the other stores in the Mansfield Town Center West shopping development. It features a 1,639 SF mezzanine, and a material handling conveyor. Along with the retail space is a classroom for hobbyists to learn crafting techniques.
