Zapata County engaged Broaddus Construction as Construction Manager at Risk to construct a museum that interprets Zapata’s rich history and incorporates historical references.

The community wanted a facility to house educational programs, interpretive exhibits, a permanent collection of historic artifacts and community spaces to investigate local history while promoting a sense of pride in local history.

The complex phasing plan required the conversion of a former municipal swimming pool and natatorium into museum exhibit space. New construction included the renovation of two one-story existing structures, and the construction of a new exhibit space linking and combining all into one.
