Scope Of Work

Amoroso completed the Islais Creek Phase II project, a new $45.7 million maintenance facility for the San Francisco Metropolitan Transit Agency (SFMTA), in May 2018.

This maintenance facility provides eight maintenance bays with hydraulic/parallelogram lifts, tire/brake servicing and welding/parts shops for SFMTA's bus fleet. The project consisted of two separate buildings connected by a space over the bus entry/exit pass way called the "Gilley" room which offers a lounge area for the bus drivers with a terrace overlooking the San Francisco Bay inlet called Islais Creek. The space also includes a community room with a small kitchen area.

There are three 3,000-gallon double-wall fiberglass storage tanks for motor oil, automatic transmission fluid and engine coolant. A single 1,000 gallon underground double wall tank was also installed for storage gear oil. Underground tanks, piping and sumps are monitored by a new Veeder Root Leak Detection Control System inside the facility.

In addition, the exterior wall and roof are made of metal panels with 942 solar modules that attach directly to the standing seams of the metal roof.

The 66,213 square-feet, 65-foot-high building will be a valuable asset to SFMTA for years to come.

Amoroso previously completed the Islais Creek Phase I project in 2013 which turned a junkyard into six acres of bus parking, along with a fueling facility and a small administration building.
