Scope Of Work
A long-time supporter of California's public higher education facilities, Amoroso Construction completed work on the seismic retrofit and modernization of the 65,290 SF, three-story DaVinci Hall Building, originally built in 1962, on Los Angeles City College's (LACC's) Campus in early 2021. DaVinci Hall houses the Art and Architecture, Journalism, Photography and Ceramics programs, as well as the campus' art gallery. The new building adds 24 new classrooms, an AV classroom, and a multitude of technology, IT, security, and ADA Accessibility upgrades, allowing Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) to provide an optimal learning environment to even more of our community's students.
All work was completed while the campus remained operational and included foundation enlargement, shear wall construction and opening relocation, a new mechanical shaft, concrete rehabilitation and repair, new interior build-outs of classrooms, a new roof, finished floors, a refinished elevator cab and doorways. Exterior work included the renovation of exterior skins to include new storefront glazing, plaster, and paint, reconstruction of the mechanical penthouse and new resilient stair treads and landings with Ardex topping to correct heights. The project also required Amoroso to connect the HVAC systems to the campus central hydronic loop system, an all new electrical and low voltage system and connection to campus network, and temporary power for the Student Lounge and Bookstore.
