Scope Of Work

Amoroso Construction completed construction of the new, two-story 40,000 SF Ames Biosciences Research Facility for NASA on Moffett Field. The scope-of-work included 19,000 SF of wet laboratory and support space and approximately 21,000 SF of enclosed and open office space, conference rooms, and break rooms. The building is a cast-in-place concrete structure with a flat slabe and shear wall lateral system. Additionally, our team installed underground utilites, performed site grading and paving, site landscaping, hardscape, and made improvements to the irrigation system.

The new research facility is a biosciences laboratory with scientists from various disciplines collaborate to study prolonged space travel. The design of the building intended to anticipate and fulfill the evolving needs of research teams with flexible work spaces for laboratory, office and conference environments. The building fulfills that goal by providing four tiers of functional space, including open wet bench laboratories, specialty function open alcoves, a large equipment room, and multiple specialty support laboratories.
