Scope Of Work
Triune was presented with the mission to complete a remodel of the 32,000 sf historic downtown Dallas landmark known as the “Moorland YMCA Building” (circa 1930) into the new home for the world-renowned Dallas Black Dance Theatre in a time critical scenario. As can be imagined, this 80-year old building presented major structural challenges during the construction demolition phase. These challenges included adding major structural components, cast in-place concrete tension rings as well as column and beam supports integral to the clear spans in the studios for the dance troupes. In addition, features and nuances required by code adherence to TAS / ADA guidelines were needed. Triune rose to the occasion by including each safety-mandated feature within the remodel, including a five-stop passenger service elevator, while maintaining the building’s exterior and interior historical flair. The new building will successfully serve the dance company for many years to come and the DBDT will once again be the focus of community involvement within the Dallas Arts District.
