Scope Of Work
This project was the construction of a new, three-bay fire station of approx 12,511sf, a separate three-bay emergency resource center of approx 5,183sf to accommodate misc equipment and wireless communications, three parking canopies, coordination of the installation of a 100 foot wireless communications tower, communications antennas and related equipment provided by the City of Long Beach. Budget was $9,883,500 with a time-frame of 365 working days. LEED Gold certified. It includes 6 gender-neutral living quarters with private restrooms for Firefighters, one Captains Quarters, kitchen, Dining room, Day room, Laundry room, Fitness room, Work Area and Meds room. A unique feature of the design is the open Courtyard in the center of the building with a glass cased hallway on all four sides allowing natural sunlight and the outdoors to flood the interior of the structure.
The site will also serve as the staging area for disaster support for North Long Beach. The Emergency Resource Center will house a disaster cache, reserve units and provide hook-up services for Red Cross and other related agencies.
The millwork package was designed entirely from solid phenolic Trespa panels. The kitchen and work area are wood grained Trespa with stainless steel counter tops and stainless steel appliances. The entertainment center in the Day room is wood grained Trespa with Corian counter tops. All the restrooms are solid color Trespa cabinets and Corian counter tops with integral Corian sinks. Each Dorm room has 3 individual pass-through lockers with a forth locker inside constructed entirely of Trespa.
