Scope Of Work
This project is located on the University of California Los Angeles campus in the School of Law building, which was originally built in the early 1950’s. The purpose of this project was to renovate the original Moot Courtroom, approximately 1263 square feet, from a single use courtroom, used only a handful of times per year, to a multi-use room that could also be used as a lecture hall/classroom while maintaining the courtroom look and feel. The projects approximate cost was $350,000 with a time frame of 180 days.
The courtroom needed to be upgraded to current ADA requirements. The witness stand, judge’s desk, jury box, argument area and student seating all needed wheel chair access. Two entrances were utilized to access the witness stand, judge’s desk and upper seating area. A lift was added next to the judge’s desk to allow access to the jury box, argument area and lower seating area. Individual computer stations, a portable lectern and media consoles were also added. The millwork is quartered walnut veneer, stained to match existing conditions of the original millwork.
