Scope Of Work
This project consisted of 5,500 linear feet of runway rehabilitation, 100 feet wide. The existing runway pavement was deteriorating and over the years, pavement elevations were not consistent throughout the entire runway, posing a safety concern for aircraft. The construction schedule consisted of a 16-day closure period to complete phase one of Runway 4-22 rehabilitation, followed by a 30-day cure period, and finally, a 5-day closure period to complete pavement grooving and final pavement markings.
An innovative technique of Universal Total Station (UTS) grade control milling was used to ensure proper pavement elevation and smoothness was achieved. This project consisted of placing 8,067 tons of Federal Aviation Administration P-401, asphalt surface course, and 4,418 tons of Federal Aviation Administration P-403, asphalt base course. The asphalt surface course and temporary markings were completed October 2, 2017, which was two days ahead of schedule.
