Scope Of Work

Types of work: Slate roof system restoration, coppersmithing, facade cleaning and restoration

  • In 2007 N&G began a $21 Million façade restoration of this iconic romanesque NYC landmark designed by architects Cady, Berg & See in 1891.
  • The 1,100 linear feet of red granite facades along 77th Street was completely cleaned, repointed and repaired by N&G. Three hundred existing historic wood windows were completely restored with new hardware, new sashes and restored frames. The existing Porte Cochere steps and parapets were completely dismantled. New concrete footings and stringers were poured in place and stone reset. All copper gutters were repaired and tower gutters were completely replaced with new 20 oz copper. Over 100 sections of Vermont Red slate were repaired along with 1000 l.f. of stainless steel snow guards.

Project was successfully completed in 2008 on budget and ahead of schedule.
