Scope Of Work
The Marine Technology Life Sciences Seawater (MTLSS) Research Building is a marine life science center that will serve as a new gateway to the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science campus and the cornerstone for the entire master plan. The unique science taught within this facility will require very interactive and technologically advanced teaching classrooms and extremely flexible student support and study spaces.
Once completed, the facility will house seawater laboratories and multidisciplinary research facilities. It will include an 8,520 square-foot Surge-Structure-Atmosphere Interaction (SUSTAIN) research facility to study the physics and dynamics of hurricanes, which will be the only facility in the world capable of generating hurricane force winds in a three-dimensional test environment.
The facility will also include a 47,942 square-foot Marine Life Science Center (MLSC) to support research in the areas of coral reef biology, aquaculture, fisheries, biological oceanography, and marine biomedical science.
