Scope Of Work
Northwest High School in Germantown, MD was designed by Samaha Associates, PC of Fairfax, VA. We have constructed two major additions (2001 and 2006) and minor renovations that increased the student capacity of the school from 1,350 to 2,000.
The scope of our projects included new science rooms, a dance studio, common rooms, and classroom spaces. The design of this school encourages interactive learning through the use of computer networking technology and flexible classroom spaces. Two major corridors, named the ‘activity and academic streets’, link the building to the parking areas north and south of the building. The ‘activity street’ serves the gymnasium, cafeteria, amphitheater and auditorium while acting as the interface between classroom instructional activities and providing separation during after school functions.
