Scope Of Work
Description:
The multi-phased project scope consists of Route 28 North being widened from McLearen Road to the Dulles Toll Road and Route 28 South being widened from the Dulles Toll Road to Route 50. Route 28 South will also be widened from Sterling Boulevard to the Dulles Toll Road, providing much needed “hot spot” improvements. The project also included the widening of the Route 28 Bridges spanning the Dulles Toll Road (Route 267) for both the north and south bound lanes.
Specialized Engineering Scope of Services:
Geotechnical Engineering Services consisted of providing onsite consulting when needed for the barrier walls, retaining walls, culverts and bridge foundations.
Field Quality Assurance Services consisted of monitoring and documenting contractor activities to ensure the project was constructed per VDOT regulations, project documents, and the approved Quality Control Program.
Field Quality Control Testing Services consisted of compaction testing for utility backfill, structural fill, stone sub-base and asphalt paving as well as field testing (slump, air content, temperature and cylinders) of cast-in-place concrete.
Laboratory Testing & Analysis consisted of verification of material quality in Specialized Engineering’s AASHTO-accredited laboratories as part of the project’s Quality Control Program. Materials tested included soils and aggregates, hot mix asphalt and cast-in-place concrete.
