Scope Of Work

Early one morning Jim and Jason Goff were speaking about an upcoming pour on the Banyon Project in Medley, FL. Banyon, a 212,000 square foot warehouse/condo project is 1630'x130'. The idea was to make 4 consecutive pours of 53,000 square feet or 2 consecutive pours of 106,000 square feet. There was a quick pause as both Jim and Jason were thinking the same thing, "let's 'pour it out!'"

The thought of pouring 212,000 square feet in one day was exciting. As always there where many critics preluding that once the sun came up we would loose the floor.

There was much discusion amongst the contractors on who to use for ready-mix on this time critical pour. A decision was made to split the 3,500 cubic yard pour between Rinker and Adonel. Adonel would handle the West end of the Pour while Rinker would take the east. Whoever got to the middle first would keep baching untill finished, while the other company shut down.

FCU utilized two 61 meters, two 55 meters, 4 laser screeds, and 32 mud-men to place the concrete at 20,000 square feet per hour in a total of 11 hours. This was quite difficult as the south side of the job had many depresions/door openings that had to be placed by hand. FCU, then utilized bump cutters, and the latest ride on trowel machines from Allen, Wacker and Whiteman with 22 finishers to have the floor burned out 2 hours after pour out.

The pour went without hick-ups and Wingerder tested the floor that day at an overall Ff 58 and Fl 51.
