Scope Of Work
After Trace Creek successfully completed the Phase I build of a 47,880 square foot building for Ashland Community & Technical College (ACTC) as a general contractor, we were hired to complete Phase II of the project. The Commonwealth of Kentucky Finance Cabinet was the contracting agency for the project. The cabinet decided the second phase would be constructed as a Construction Management at-Risk project. This allowed the cabinet to select the most qualified contractor for the project.
ACTC Phase II involved the construction of a 105,000 square foot structure adjacent to the previous structure built by Trace Creek. This project was noteworthy because it was the first community and technical college in Kentucky to be constructed inside an industrial park. Also, ACTC was the first project of any type to be built on a Construction Manager at-Risk delivery system by the Kentucky Community and Technical College Systems.
The President of the Kentucky Community and Technical College system was extremely pleased with the results. At the ribbon cutting ceremony, he informed Governor Steve Beshear that this was the fourth facility built under his leadership and it was in his opinion the best to date.
