Scope Of Work

This project for the Ashland Community & Technical College consisted of a phased HVAC system replacement for a 139,000-square-foot, four-story building and basement. The new HVAC system included air handlers, controls, VAV boxes, piping, boilers, pumps, ductwork and insulation to make a fully functional system. Trace Creek was able to reuse the chiller and water tower, deftly incorporating it into the new HVAC system.

Trace Creek converted the existing electrical baseboard heat to hot water baseboard and radiant panel heating in 60% of the building. An indoor generator was replaced with a larger exteriormounted natural gas generator, which will power both emergency and supplement emergency systems.

As part of this project, many ceilings were replaced and new lighting installed. All areas of construction were provided with new cable tray and IT data communications wiring throughout, including backbone fiber. A new fire suppression wet sprinkler system was installed in the basement and the first three floors using the existing sprinkler main that serves the fourth floor.

Trace Creek took steps to minimize disruption, noise and dust throughout this project, since the building would remain occupied throughout the construction period.
