Amy Missel's Bio
In this next edition of our Meet the Team series, we had the pleasure of talking with Strategic Project Manager, Amy Missel! Amy has been with Kenseal for almost 24 years, holding various roles in her time with our company! She is a trusted resource for our team and is dedicated to many exciting projects and initiatives this year. Let’s hear more from Amy…
What is your role at Kenseal?
“I am the Strategic Project Manager.”
How long have you been with the company?
“I’ve been with Kenseal for almost 24 years, starting as an Assistant Credit Manager in 1993.”
What’s the most satisfying aspect of your job?
“Being a trusted resource for other Kenseal and Harris employees. I really enjoy working with others and understanding their challenges, seeing things from their perspective. Not only does it help me offer more appropriate solutions (and make people happy), but the more people I talk to, the more well-rounded my understanding of opportunities for efficiency and optimization within the Harris organization becomes.”
What are your greatest treasures?
“My greatest treasures are my boys — McGuire(12), Aedan(8), and David(51). David and I do our best to help our boys realize that it’s not the amount of ‘stuff’ we acquire in life, as much as it is the people and experiences that we encounter; we feel that this perspective will open their eyes to so much more of what the world has to offer during their lifetimes. For the past few Christmases, we’ve gradually stopped giving gifts and started giving experiences. Each of us enjoys traveling, and we grow as a family when we can escape the day-to-day schedule and find new experiences together. This year, their ‘experiences’ include a long weekend at Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos, a day trip to ‘Diggerland’ in NJ, another long weekend in NYC later this year, and numerous trips to Ocean Isle Beach, NC with extended family.”
Who are the heroes in your life?
“My parents — my father gave me his stubbornness and his work ethic. Growing up, his family offered him lots of love, but they didn’t always have a lot of money. He knew that, someday, he wanted more for his wife and kids than he had growing up, and he worked hard to get it. And I have no doubt passed on his stubbornness to his grandchildren! My mother is sensitive but strong; that strength wasn’t always evident when we were kids, but looking back, it was most definitely there. She continues to have the right advice that will help pull me through any situation. My parents keep themselves extremely active and strive to enjoy life every day – definitely something for us all to strive for!”
What is one fun fact about you?
“I love to eat. I like to call it one of the few ‘necessary luxuries’ of life. If you’re going to eat, eat something that you really enjoy. And I love to cook, for myself and for others! When food is made with love, you can taste it. There aren’t many experiences that warm my heart as much as setting a big home cooked meal down in front of friends and family, and watching them enjoy it. That truly brings me joy!”
