Scope Of Work
Carlson, along with design partner McDonough Associates, was selected to provide design/build construction services for Asphalt Operating Systems new Chicago operations. The 90-acre site included 70 acres designated as an environmentally-contaminated brownfield site. This project transformed the brownfield site that posed a community hazard into LEED silver certified facility.
Carlson’s site related scope of work included mass site grading, site demolition, site concrete, wet and dry utility installation, traffic signal installation, site power and lighting, heavy-duty roadway construction, four rail spurs with switching and interconnection to the Illinois Central main line rail, site spill containment systems, fencing, access control, complete storm water management system and drought resistant landscaping.
There were also three building facilities that Carlson constructed totaling 40,000 square feet including an office/warehouse building, heating building, and the fill control building. Carlson’s scope of work included the completion of all mechanical piping with associated insulation, pipe racks, loading and unloading stations, control wiring, as well as the pumping, hot oil heating, natural gas fueling and mixing valve systems.
