Scope Of Work
The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Charter High School project, built for the Louisiana Department of Education Recovery School District, included the new construction of a three-story, 139,000 square foot high school located in New Orleans, LA. The high school, which contains grades kindergarten through twelve, was constructed using a concreate and structural steel frame on a pre-cast concrete and timber piles foundation. An exterior consisting of a concrete masonry unit block with brick veneer and composite wall panels and a built-up flat roof system completed the construction. Highlights of this project also include classrooms, laboratories, a gymnasium, and a theater. This project achieved Silver Certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design from the U.S. Green Building Council for the implementation of state-of-the art electrical and emergency systems in addition to sustainable green energy systems. The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Charter High School now provides a fully modernized facility for academic student instruction in the community of the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans.
