Scope Of Work
Renovation of two existing university buildings connected by a 2-level bridge. Significant interior enhancements including the remodel and reconfiguration of two mock courtrooms, fourteen classrooms, law library, two conference centers and administrative offices with full audio and video systems. The scope of work also included a complete external facelift – a new façade consisting of EIFS and glass curtain wall system with the extensive use of glazing elements.
The Boyd School of Law was truly an open campus project – the two buildings involved were located in the heart of a fully functioning UNLV college campus. All work was very closely coordinated with UNLV and State Public Works Board Staff. The live project public safety requirements and exterior renovations within the open campus environment, gave Martin-Harris Construction an opportunity to show the positive impacts of good planning, coordination and material logistics within an active facility.
Due to the age of the facility, The Boyd School of Law project contained a large amount of structural enhancement and remediation. Martin-Harris Construction oversaw the implementation of an up to date fire-life safety system for the project. All facets of the building were brought up to current code, including the sprinkler systems and emergency egress plans.
