Scope Of Work
Converse Consultants led responsibilities for all phases of work conducted under the NNDA's two EPA Brownfields grants, including project management, Phase I and Phase II Environmental Assessments (ESAs), community outreach and involvment, site cleanup and reuse planning, and area wide planning.
- Converse completed a Phase I ESA, dated August 12, 2015, for the Property. During the Phase I ESA, it was documented that the Property was formerly developed with a gasoline station (southeast corner) and is located in the Carson River Mercury Site, which is listed on EPA’s National Priorities List (NPL). Soil and groundwater contamination identified in the area of the former gasoline station in the late 1990s and possible mercury soil contamination from the Carson River Mercury Site were identified as Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs). A Phase II ESA was recommended to reconcile the RECs that were identified during the Phase I ESA and clear the Property for redevelopment.
-
Soil and groundwater contamination was discovered in the area of the removed USTs from the historic service station. Converse recommended additional soil and groundwater sampling be conducted in order to develop a clean-up plan. After development of the plan, additional funding sources can be identified to assist with site remediation.
