415 Natoma

Project Information

Project Location:
San Francisco, CA
Status:
Completed
Structure Type:
Office Building

Scope Of Work

The 415 Natoma project is a 25-story core-and-shell office building project located at Brookfield’s 5M development in San Francisco, Calif. It’s approximately 670,000 square feet and has numerous lighting and design features that set it apart from other structures in the area.

As the Design/Build electrical contractor on the project, CEI installed the switchgear, feeders, motor branch and disconnects, receptacles, lighting fixtures and controls, the generator and automatic transfer switch (ATS). CEI also installed most of the low voltage (LV) systems and infrastructure, including a full smoke control system, the security and telecom systems and the head-end room of the distributed antenna system (DAS), which serves the entire 5M campus.

One of the most noteworthy features of 415 Natoma is its exterior lighting. The building has multiple arrays of white and colored lighting that illuminate dark blue façade panels on many of the floors. The building façade also has multiple “steps” that create overhangs where CEI installed downlighting and terraces that can be occupied. At the very top of the building, a lighting array called “the lantern” lights up the façade panels of the 10 floors below it. CEI coordinated with the curtainwall manufacturer overseas so the panels would arrive with the infrastructure installed and then used swing stages to install the fixtures on the exterior of the building.
