The 6-floor, 200-bed facility is the first new hospital to be built in southeast Michigan in more than 20 years, providing residents with one of the most technologically advanced and patient friendly hospitals in the nation. It is one of a handful of hospitals in the country to offer patients the convenience of acuity-adaptable rooms which are designed to allow patients to remain in one room throughout their stay while still receiving the highest quality of care.
The new hospital also features an emergency department designed to function as a Level I Trauma Center; state-of-the art imaging technology, such as advanced MRI, CT, PET and ultrasound services; a dedicated pediatric unit and pediatric short stay unit; a Neuroscience Institute, the Craniofacial Institute for Reconstructive Surgery; the Michigan Ear Institute; Cardiovascular, Musculoskeletal and Oncology Centers of Excellence, as well as a dedicated and consolidated Women’s Services .
“This new hospital will be a place of innovation and excellence,” says Elliot Joseph, CEO of St. John Health. “This facility is being built in response to the dramatic need in western Oakland for a state-of-the-art inpatient medical center. It will also provide St. John Health the resources necessary to continue our mission of helping the poor and vulnerable in the communities we serve.”
