Scope Of Work
For years, Sweet Basil fed an astounding number of hungry patrons in a tiny hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Needham Center. When the owners of the adjacent store retired, chef/proprietor Dave Becker saw the chance to expand his business and feed even more people. His dad, a local architect, quickly created an attractive and function design, and Construction Coordinators, Inc. (CCI) was asked to help with constructability and construction.
As proprietor of a very popular restaurant, Dave really knows how to draw a crowd. None of Dave’s loyal patrons wanted him to close to do the work, so all of it was performed while the restaurant remained open. CCI completed the expansion space first and Dave was able to fire up the new restaurant while the old was revamped behind the curtain (and a barricade). Because Sweet Basil’s kitchen was operating during construction, cleanliness was the utmost priority, and CCI took great care to prevent any contamination of the food being prepared. CCI even had to overhaul the antique and woefully inadequate underground electrical feeds to the building, all while patrons chatted and ate nearby without interruption.
The result was a sparkling new space without anyone ever missing a meal. Customers accustomed to long waits for Dave’s delicious food now have something to celebrate: more space and more tables.
