Dean De Freitas's Bio
Dean is a principal of The Macallan Group and is primarily responsible for managing the operations of the company. Dean joined Macallan in 2007 and has been employed in the Construction Industry for over twenty-five years. His project management abilities and operational experience have proven invaluable at both the corporate and project management levels.
After graduating from The Tulane University of Louisiana with a degree in Civil Engineering, Dean began his career with George Hyman Construction Company (now Clark Construction) in Bethesda, Maryland. While at Hyman he worked in the Foundation Group, engineering and constructing specialty foundation projects including work for the Baltimore Metro System. He later joined Beers Construction Company (now Skanska USA) of Atlanta, Georgia in 1992, and after a short stint in their Healthcare Group, he joined their Heavy Civil division. Dean worked as a Project Engineer and Project Manager in the Group, managing a number of projects including dams, water & wastewater treatment plants and bridges, before ultimately leaving as a Senior Project Manager.
Immediately before joining Macallan, he served for nine years as the Operations Manager for Tayco Contractors, a sitework contracting company, where he had overall responsibility for all operations including business development, estimating, construction management and client relations for the firm.
James Baker's Bio
James Baker joined Macallan in 2021, bringing 14 years of financial management and real estate investing experience. As Vice President, James is primarily responsible for underwriting new investments, analyzing performance, and monitoring returns for all investments within The Macallan Group. Also, he is leading the implementation of systems, policies, and procedures including the development and management of technology initiatives.
Prior to joining Macallan, James was most recently a Director at The Ardent Companies, an Atlanta-based asset management firm. His primary responsibilities included asset management and underwriting for the residential land team and the single-family rental portfolio.
James has extensive experience with multiple recognized firms. He was an Asset Manager with Sylvan Road Capital, an Atlanta-based rental home aggregator. Also, he spent time working as an Asset Manager at Synovus Bank and then First Citizens Bank, where he was responsible for the daily management and disposition of over $300 million of REO/non-performing loans.
James received a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Miami University and a Master of Science in Real Estate from Georgia State University.
A native of central Ohio, James has lived in Atlanta since 2007 and currently lives in Marietta with his wife Tess and their three young children.
James L. Rhoden , III's Bio
Jay Rhoden is a founding principal of The Macallan Group and focuses on leading the development and implementation of the overall portfolio strategy, business development, community relations, and due diligence with respect to new company formation and deal opportunities. Jay also oversees all asset and program management, legal and contract issues, compliance issues, and serves as the Managing Broker of Macallan Real Estate, LLC (licensed in Georgia, Florida, Alabama and South Carolina).
Prior to starting Macallan, Jay was the Chief Development Officer of The Macauley Companies, developers of master planned residentialcommunities in metropolitan Atlanta where he oversaw the acquisition and development of over 10,000 lots across multiple communities. Jay began his career in the development group of Carter, a leading Atlanta based developer of high rise office projects across the Southeastern United States. He served at Carter as a Senior Project Manager overseeing projects valued in excess of $250 million.
An Atlanta native, Jay holds Juris Doctor, Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Florida, and has focused his career on commercial and residential real estate construction and development. Jay is also heavily involved in civic and community affairs and currently serves as a member of the Urban Land Institute, the Council for Quality Growth, the Florida Bar, and the Regional Civic League. Jay was a president of The Commerce Club’s New Century Forum, a past member of the Commerce Club Operating Board, and a graduate of Leadership Cobb, Regional Leadership Institute, and the Urban Land Institute Center for Leadership. Jay has also served for over fifteen years as a local reserve law enforcement officer and is an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America.
John Clotfelter's Bio
John Clotfelter joined Macallan in early 2020 bringing over 15 years of experience in corporate finance, financial reporting, treasury and operational management, including a principal focus over the last 10 years in commercial real estate.
Prior to joining The Macallan Group, John was Chief Financial Officer with the Dewberry Group, where he oversaw all asset management and financial reporting functions for a $750MM portfolio. During his time at Dewberry he represented the firm in the origination and closing of over $500MM in various debt transactions.
John started his career with a regional accounting firm where he specialized in tax services for privately held real estate developers.
John holds a B.S. in Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Masters of Accounting from the Kennesaw State University. John is also licensed Certified Public Accountant.
John currently resides in Marietta with his wife Laura with their two children. John serves on the board for the Marietta School Foundation and is an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marietta.
Michael S. Minutelli's Bio
As a founding principal of The Macallan Group, Mike Minutelli leads the Macallan portfolio of companies from an operational, financial, business development and overall strategic growth standpoint. Throughout his career, Mike has been instrumental in the start-up, acquisition and disposition of more than a dozen companies and today Mike is responsible for providing senior leadership to the , home building and technology sectors of The Macallan Group.
Mike began his career as a Project Manger with Brasfield & Gorrie where he managed multiple high-profile office, healthcare and senior living projects throughout Georgia. Mike was also a Partner of The Macauley Companies, which developed more than 10,000 lots in master planned communities throughout metro Atlanta.
Mike holds a B.S. in Building from the Georgia Institute ofTechnology, an M.B.A from the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University and is an alumnus of The Bolles School in Jacksonville, FL. Mike is also a LEED certified, unlimited tier licensed general contractor in multiple states and is a graduate of the Urban Land Institute Center for Leadership.
Mike has lived in the City of Atlanta since he graduated from GeorgiaTech and he has been recognized by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as a “40 Under 40” leader as well as one of the “100 Key Leaders Shaping Atlanta.” Mike has also served in a number of community leadership roles and is a long-standing member of the Marist School master plan implementation committee and past Facilities Chairman & Member of the School Advisory Council for Christ the King School
Michele L. Harry's Bio
Michele is the Vice President of The Macallan Group and oversees the marketing and branding strategy as well as internal/external communications, website design and development, event management, project photography, market research, advertising, social media, and public relations.
In addition, she also assists in developing organization strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction; establishing human resources objectives in line with organizational objectives. Manages talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations.
She has over 18 years of marketing expertise and has worked for some of the most successful real estate and construction firms in Atlanta.
Michele is a graduate of the 2014-2015 ULI Center for Leadership class. She lives in Atlanta with her husband Kevin Harry and in her free time volunteers at her favorite charitable organizations and pursues her love of photography.

Vicki Mitchell's Bio
Vicki is the Corporate Controller of The Macallan Group and oversees all accounting and finance operations for the company.
With over 30 years experience in the industry, she is a results oriented executive with broad based accomplishments in accounting, finance,construction administration and corporate management.
She identifies cost cutting opportunities while streamlining departmental processes, team development, implementing internal controls, and producing accurate construction Percentage Complete and Completed Contracts Methods of GAAP financial statements and consolidations.
Vicki is a graduate of Western Connecticut State University with a Bachelors in Business Administration, and is credentialed with a CCIFP license (Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional) accredited under the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) – essential to ethical financial management in the industries complex environment.
Vicki lives in Atlanta with her husband Greg Mitchell and visits with her three children as often as possible, while also enjoys beach activities and reading whenever possible. She supports her favorite charities such as ALS, the St. Joseph’s Indian Boarding School for Native American children, and The Center for Spiritual Living.
