Scope Of Work
Situation/Challenges
Rectify safety concerns of the aging lime stone facade and soffit of the church. Conduct renovations with sensitivity to church services and activities, as well as maintaining the safety of pedestrians.
Approach
To ensure public safety, a sidewalk canopy was erected during the exploratory phase. J.P. Salemi, Inc. then replaced all the old limestone panels with new ones, which allowed the church to maintain a consistent look while ensuring a solid building construction. In addition, the new limestone at the church's roof was re-flashed to prevent water infiltration.
Result
The priest and the Archdiocese of Chicago were pleased with the appearance of the new limestone. After inspection of the construction was approved, the entrance was reopened to the public.
