Scope Of Work

CCI was responsible for the overall environmental protection, safety, CPM schedule and construction for this $16 million project. The project elements included construction of an elevated interchange with multiple bridges, roundabouts and on and off ramps to replace the at grade “signalized” interchange at Route 742 and Interstate 58. Project details included construction of two new bridges, two new roundabouts, modifications of existing turn lanes, MSE walls, overhead/roadway signage, guardrail, asphalt pavement, drainage, pavement markings, clearing, mass grading, and maintenance of traffic. CCI was responsible for the communication and coordination with VDOT, Design Engineer, QA/QC, Town of Courtland, Southampton County and permitting agencies and other stakeholders on the project.

CCI was able to control the project schedule with its unique ability to self-perform all project management, mass excavation, asphalt paving, storm drainage/basin construction, pavement demolition, traffic control, bridge construction and guardrail installation. Major items of work included approximately 50,000 cubic yards of mass excavation, 55,000 cubic yards of borrow excavation, 15,000 tons of asphalt, 30,000 cubic yards of select fill, construction of 43,000 square feet of MSE Wall, 4800 linear feet of barrier wall, and removal and reconfiguration of an at grade intersection.

CCI’s focus on safety enabled us and our subcontractors to complete all work to date, to include over 100,000 man hours, without a single loss time injury. Through detailed scheduling, coordination, and communication the Interchange Project was substantially completed ahead of schedule and VDOT awarded Curtis Contracting the maximum early completion incentive bonus as a result.
