Scope Of Work

Otterbein Church located in Waynesboro, PA expressed the need for excellence in video and lighting production to Spire during early design meetings.  With plans to expand into a new facility in the near future, Otterbein Church wanted to begin exploring/implementing these new technology systems in their current sanctuary.  A clean and unobtrusive, yet modern design for video and lighting was required to capture weekly services and special events.

Spire designed and installed a lighting system comprised of three main systems: backlighting, frontlighting, and front texture.  The backlighting used Rosco Miro Cube 4C fixtures which were track mounted to ensure a clean look.  Front lighting includedETC Source Fours.  The frontlight system is comprised of single point for each stage area on a 45 degree pitch.  The pulpit area uses a two-point frontlight method to minimize any shadows during the sermon segments of the services.  Front texture was used to create interest on the stage and to create a visual back drop when captured on video.

The video system was designed to be full HD and digital end to end.  To achieve this, Spire used 2 PTZ cameras, 1 manned camera and a projector by Panasonic, aBlackmagic Design UltraStudio 4k to output ProPresenter as an HD-SDI key/fill and some Blackmagic Design converter boxes as well as a Sync Generator using Tri-Level Sync to lock everything together.  All video signals are in HD-SDI format to aRoland V800HD switcher which capably handles the live switching as well as the keyed lyrics using the down-stream keyer (DSK).  The DSK allows us to get crisp text over the video feed.
