The South Slope project was unlike any other. An existing wood structure building contained equipment that could not be shut down during construction. The engaged with City to build a precast building around the original structure that could withstand an F5 tornado. The construction consisted of caissons with grade beams positioned atop. Tornado-proof doors and frames were installed, and new mechanical and electrical equipment allows South Slope to expand its switching capacity in the future.
